Wireless Warehouse Multi-Order Picking Process Flow

Use this process if you want to pick multiple orders at the same time. Multi-order picking is useful for orders that are non single-single orders, that is, the orders that might require picking 1-5 packages.

In multi-order picking, pick demands from multiple orders are merged into the same warehouse picking task. The user picks all the lines for all the pick demands in that picking task at the same time.

Multi-order picking is classified as follows:

For a visual representation of this process flow, see Multi-Order Picking Process Flow Diagram.

Multi-Order Picking

To perform the multi-order picking into totes or packages, use the following steps:

  1. Set up zone options for Wireless Warehouse picking as follows:
    1. In Zone Maintenance, select the location and zone in which you want to pick, and then click the Update button in the ribbon.

    2. Click the Task Options button in the ribbon.

    3. In Zone Task Options, verify that Picking is selected as a task type for the zone. On the Merge Picking Tasks tab, specify the fields and options that you want.

  2. If you have chosen to merge the picking tasks automatically, then the picking tasks are merged automatically when you create the pick demands in Pick Demand Create and Print.

If you have chosen to merge picking tasks manually, you can do so in Warehouse Task Management.

  1. In the wireless warehouse, the warehouse employee performs the merged picking tasks with a handheld device by picking into either packages or totes with a handheld device.

Based on your requirements, perform one of the following procedures to complete the picking process:

  1. Adjust inventory for the confirmed pick demand in Confirmed Pick Demand Inventory Adjust, and continue processing as normal.

Picking into Package

To perform the multi-order picking into packages, use the following steps:

  1. At the Wireless Warehouse Handheld Menu, enter Get Next Task. The picking task appears, and the bin displays at the top of the handheld screen to direct you to go to a specific bin.
  2. If a remark appears on the handheld screen, read the remark, and click Close Remark to proceed. Remarks appear on the handheld if remarks were added to pick demands for the order, order line, customer, and/or product. Remarks only display once per order per task.

  3. If the bin from which you are picking is not automatically entered in the Bin field, scan the bin, or enter it in the field. The product code, quantity to pick, and unit of measure display at the top of the handheld screen.

  4. Scan the picked product, or enter the product code, UPC, or GTIN in the SKU field.

  5. Enter the unit of measure displayed for the product you are picking in the U/M field. You cannot change the unit of measure because you must pick in the correct unit of measure.
  6. If the product is tracked by lot or serial number, scan the lot or serial number, or enter it in the Lot or Serial field.

  7. Scan the package or enter the package number in the Package field.

  8. If you are not required to scan each unit of the product, enter the quantity picked in the Qty field. When you enter the quantity, the product is moved in the system to your user bin. If you are required to scan each unit of the product, repeat steps 4 to 7.

  9. Repeat steps 2 to 8 for all products you are picking.

If you need to stop picking to put products into the laydown bin, select Tools Images\bluerarw.gif Putdown, then scan the laydown bin, or enter the bin name in the Bin field. You can then resume picking, but you must use the same laydown bin.

If the bin from which you are picking does not contain the expected quantity of the product (that is, there is no more product on a shelf), select Tools Images\bluerarw.gif Short, confirm that you want to mark the pick quantity as short of the expected quantity, and then continue picking any other products for the pick demand.

If all products for the task are picked, all fields except the Bin field are hidden, and you can continue to the next step.

  1. Scan the laydown bin, or enter the bin name in the Bin field, as you put the product down on the loading dock. You have completed the task and the main menu appears.

Note You can only put products for a picking task in a single laydown bin. If you previously put products into a laydown bin for the task, you must use that bin.

Perform step 4 under the Multi-Order Picking section to complete the multi-order picking process.

Picking into Tote

To perform the multi-order picking into totes, use the following steps:

  7. Scan or enter the tote ID in the Tote ID field.

  10. After you have picked all the items into the totes, move the tote cart to a pack station by putting down to a laydown bin dedicated for that pack station.

If you need to stop picking to put products into the laydown bin, select Tools Images\bluerarw.gif Putdown, then scan the laydown bin, or enter the bin name in the Bin field. You can then resume picking, but you must use the same laydown bin.

Note You can put down only those totes into which you have picked all the items that pertain to one order in that picking task.

  1. Scan the laydown bin, or enter the bin name in the Bin field, as you move the cart of totes to the packing station. You have completed the task and the main menu appears.

Note You can only put products for a picking task in a single laydown bin. If you previously put products into a laydown bin for the task, you must use that bin.

  1. The packer in the pack station completes the advanced packaging process. The packer uses the Pick Demand Confirm window to enter or scan the tote ID. For more information about packing products picked into totes, see Pick Demand Confirm.

Perform step 4 under the Multi-Order Picking section to complete the multi-order picking process.
