The Electronic Data Interchange module allows you to send and receive EDI data from large retailers (trading partners).
The module enables you to:
Map EDI data for individual trading partner specifications.
Import EDI data from trading partners.
Export EDI data to trading partners.
Manage information for trading partners, including cross-references for specific data used by trading partners.
There are three methods you can use to transmit EDI data:
Third-Party - A third-party service transmits and translates your EDI data. The data is displayed on a Website or faxed to you in a report. You can then manually enter the data in Apprise. The disadvantage of this method is that it is not automated. So, it is only recommended for companies that have very few customers that require EDI.
EDI Gateway - Incoming raw EDI data is translated by third-party software so it can be imported into Apprise. It is then imported using the various EDI imports. Outgoing EDI data is exported from Apprise and translated by third-party software. This method is limited in that you can only import and export data in existing Apprise EDI import and export formats. For more information, see Using EDI Gateway.
EDI Transaction Management - This is the Apprise end-to-end solution for sending and receiving EDI data. Data is received from and sent to a value-added network (VAN). EDI maps are created for your trading partners in EDI Mapper, and allow you to import or export any data required for each of your trading partners. For more information, see Using EDI Transaction Management.
